In other words, why would you gamble in the first place? It must be one of the following reasons or maybe all of them or maybe even a couple of them:
1. Need excitement
2. Need money
3. Like aura of gambling
4. Need outlet from everyday life
Do you find yourself in any of these? Of course you do. Because the thing that draws us to gambling is NEED! Need for one or all of these reasons. Once this need is satisfied, then greed rears it's ugly head.
Need is the underlying factor behind what makes each of us drop a chip on an event. How each of us handles that need is what determines who will be win ners and who will be losers.
If you can't handle the self analysis of admitting that need is the factor behind your gambling trips, you're just fooling yourself.
I've come to grips with it. It has turned me into a Disciplined player albeit conservative, but a controlled player nonetheless. Looking over the list, I find that the first three of those things apply to me and I'm not ashamed of it. Nor should you be ashamed of the fact that you gamble only about the fact that you are a rot¬ten gambler.
a. Do you play games you know nothing about?
b. Do you gamble money on sporting events without doing a thorough job of handicapp¬ing?
c. Do you get ahead in gambling and then pour your profits right back to the house?
If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you're a rotten gambler. If you get upset about the fact that I tell you you're a rotten gambler because you lose most of the time then you got a problem with Self Analysis.
If you agree that an intelligent approach to gambling is the logical way to look at betting then you're into Self Analysis.
Gambling is a rough way to win money. My opinion is that anyone can learn how to win, if only they'd take the time to learn the game. Learn how to win and learn how to quit when you reach a certain amount based on how much you start with.
