If you know Craps, you know that there are only three ways to make a 10 (6 4, 4 6, and 5 5), as opposed to six ways of making a 7 (6 1, 1 6, 5 2, 2 5, 4 3, and 3 4). That means Arthur had a 6 to 3 (same as 2 to 1) chance of winning his bet. The odds were in his favor. Luck wasn't.

The shooter came right back with a 6 4. He made his 10, and won a dollar. Arthur lost $12,000. The hush at the table was deafening.

Arthur shrugged his shoulders and walked away followed him. A few minutes later he stopped at another crap table and started digging into his pockets. He came up with a $1 chip and placed it on the Don't Pass Line. He was starting all over at the bottom of the mountain.

I walked away, but that incident remains very vivid in my memory. What was Arthur looking for? He had his Utopia when he reached $12,000, but still he couldn't stop.

Where is Arthur today? I don't know, but I'll bet he's still searching. Maybe he learned discipline. His actions that day helped me. It was one of the hundreds of things that I have seen during the years that give me insight into the things that people will do in a casino.

I honestly enjoy talking to people about winning. I have so many letters from graduates of my school. They tell me what has been happening to them. Invariably, each person pens the same message: "You know, it really works!!!" Of course it does. The BIG 4 does work. These people are realizing it, and still it seems incredible to them. This is mostly because for years so many people think you have to lose whenever you gamble. Well, you can put that garbage out of your head.
