Wrapping It Up

If you have come this far in the book and still don't understand what discipline is, then it's going to be a long time before you become a consistent winner. I have shown you the percentages to stick to, and the danger signs for alerting you that it is getting close to walk time. If you follow these few basic steps, you are going to experience some new thrills in Blackjack:

1. Set your loss limits and win goals outside the casino.

2. Loss Limit should be 40% per session, and 40% of your starting bankroll. Not a penny more. But, you can quit anywhere up to 40% if you see you are fighting a hot dealer.

3. Win goal should be 20% of your session, then split the 20% profit in half and play with the 50% excess. The other 50% is set aside to guarantee a win for that session.

4. Divide your bankroll into three separate sessions of equal value.

5. Break your sessions into series bets, always making the first bet of a series higher than the table minimum, and then, after a win, regressing the second bet to the table minimum.

6. Leave a table if you lose the first four hands.

7. Chart a table before you sit down.

8. Never sit at a table unless you have at least 30 times the amount of the minimum.

9. Realize what a rough game Blackjack is and play only when you have perfected the BIG 4.

10. Learn how to win. Learn to walk when you get ahead.

11. If you lose, learn to walk when your losses reach 40% of your starting bankroll. No excuses.

12. Learn DISCIPLINEII

If you can force yourself to adhere to these few basic rules, you will be on the way to becoming a strong player.

Finally, discipline is tough to acquire, and hard to maintain. But since it guarantees results, it is worth the effort.

If you don't think discipline is rough to perfect, just listen to what Webster's dictionary says about it:

". . . Chastisement by way of correction and training; hence training through suffering."

Yes, you will suffer a little, but the fruits of victory taste very sweet. I hope you get a great big mouthful.
