Origin of the Game
Do you really give a pig's ear where, why or how the game of Roulette was invented? For those of you who don't care, I agree with you. I honestly don't think it much matters. But for those of you who are sticklers for such details, I gave a fairly good historical explanation in my first Roulette book. But I've yet to receive a letter from a fan who stated: "Holyosky!!! I won $200 today and it was all because you told me that Roulette was the most famous game in in the 13th Century!"
If I had the good fortune to be stuck in an elevator with Dolly Parton, I sure as heck wouldn't ask about her family tree. I'd rather get right to the point, but that's another story.
In Roulette, just as in every game, whether you win or lose is based on your having the Big 4, finding a hot Trend, applying a strong Money Management system and having the guts to Discipline yourself into leaving that table when the Trend starts to change.
Reminds me of a good buddy of mine and his approach to members of the opposite sex. He went by the name of old Bud‑O! We'd be sitting in a cocktail lounge and several extremely attractive girls would be sitting at the bar. Different guys would go up to them and clumsily go over the same tired monologue:
a. Hi, where are you from?
b. Do you come here often?
c. How long you live in this state?
d. Do you know so and so?
Ever hear those same old boring, pointless, ridiculous questions? Of course you have.
The girls usually showed their disgust and the questioner would head off, looking for other frontiers to try his staid line.
Not ol Bud‑0. He didn't give a donkey's dingle where or who the girl was or how she got to that place anyhow. He got right down to brass tacks.
He'd prance over to the most gorgeous of the gorgeous, stare at her for a few seconds and then make his subtle move: "Hi, my name's ol Bud‑O!!! Would you ‑or would you not ‑ like to be kissed tonight?" (The questions varied, but this is a family book so the dialogue is altered to protect against censor).
No beating around the bush, no wasting words on nonsense or killing time about things that had no bearing on the game of the moment ‑ scoring!!
Bud‑O batted a hefty percentage and still does. The other guys looking for historical information would be better off spending their Friday nights in libraries. They usually ended up with a good book those nights anyway.
Same is true in gambling. Pick up the Theory of the systems I'll put in this book and jump right into the game with a smooth Money Management method. These systems applied to the Roulette tables are effective and have been mastered through years of play.
I'd like you to get the basic Theory and then apply your own logical variations as you see fit.
Forget about the technical history of the game ‑ it ain't gonna put a penny in your pocket. Who knows? Maybe ol Bud‑O was related to the originator of Roulette. He sure ended up with a lot of good numbers.
