Super Aces Video Poker
by Gayle MitchellSuper Aces is big news for VP players--the payout for Four Aces leaps to 2000 credits.
The beauty of this payout is that no fifth card is required, unlike Double Double Bonus where a 2, 3 or 4 must be in place.
It is hard to believe, but let me repeat, four Aces pays 2000 coins and the fifth card does not matter.
The super payoff for 4 Aces occurs approx. every 4200 hands, thereby producing a ½ Royal win of 2000 coins at a rate of almost 10 times more than a Royal Flush.
Additionally, this game is another VP version that offers a higher payout for the much-ignored straight flush by upping the payout slightly from 250 to 300. Four 2’s, 3’s and 4’s, pays 400.
Known as All Aces, online VP players can reap the benefits with this VP version from Microgaming available in single, 10 hand and 50 hand versions.
Although, difficult to locate, the full-pay version of 8/5 (1 coin payout of 8 coins for a full house and 5 coins for a flush) returns 99.8 percent with optimum strategy and maximum coin in play.
More likely, you will find the 7/5 version which reduces the 1 coin payout for a full house to 7. This version returns 98.7%.
However, online play at the All Aces version increases the overall payout to 99.92%.
Why the bump? Because this version pays 500 for four 2’s, 3’s and 4’s rather than 400.
Alternatively, for a truly poor performance, the reduction of the full house payout to 6/5 puts the overall return down to a discouraging 97.7%, so that even with the best comp points, you are nowhere near a 100% payout that is so prized in Video Poker Land.
Even so, for the players who want to play this super game, I feel it is worthy of mention.
Generally, these ‘super’ versions are found as a game selection on the multi-line, triple play machines.
I have provided a Super Aces pay-schedule illustration below.

Strategy: of course, you are always on the lookout for a pair or three Aces to hold awaiting
the ‘big strike’. This game is all about the Aces.
It is best to hold only the Ace if 1 of the other cards is not suited.
Example: Aceclubs, Kinghearts, 7spades, 3clubs, 5diamonds.
Similarly, hold only the Ace if 2 of the other cards is not suited.
Example: Aceclubs, Kinghearts, Queendiamonds, 7spades, 3 clubs
It’s not worth the measly payout for a full-house of 35 coins to save two pair when one of the pairs is Aces.
Keep a watchful eye on straight flush possibilities that come your way for a 300 coin reward.
As mentioned, Super Aces is found at multi-line machines so three Aces held give you
three chances at a nice payday.
In one video poker session, I was profitably surprised to be dealt four Aces multiplied by three that resulted in a 6000 coin payout.
BTW, I have a Super Aces tale that will lead you to ask, as I did, ‘what are the long odds on this happening?’
I noticed a player who had a 6000 payout in front of her with three quad Aces, but she had only held three Aces and had not been dealt four Aces.
Thank about that, all three hands produced a fourth ace on discard!
I entertain my VP friends with this great payoff story.
Until next we meet, may all your VP choices turn out to be ‘Royalty’ (or 1/2 Royals in the case of Super Aces).
